Anxiety

I have been on Welbrutin XL 150mg, for about five years. My anxiety level is off the charts, mainly at work. I saw my Dr. he up it to 300 mg. It is not improving, and he is not listening. I have resorted to sleeping pills before I go to work. This slows me down, and I am able to function. Question: does anyone know long term effects. 2). Question: I have an appointment with a Psychologist in the next two weeks, should I tell him?  Please give advice, I am not going to quit need to work. Thanks

are you seeing a psychologist or a psychiatrist----big difference. The ologist! can not prescribe medication. The iatrist can and they have been to med school while ologists have not.  Many times a psychologist has a psychiatrist as a partner who can prescribe for them. Depends. Perhaps that is your situation?  Anyway----other folks on here will have some much better answers for you. Good luck         omhome

Are you seeing a psychiatrist or regular doc?  Because as was said above, wellbutrin is for depression but for most people is very stimulating and therefore not usually used when anxiety is the primary or significant problem.

Definitely tell your psychologist.  I seems to me (though i am not a doctor) that your doc has you on meds that are not working, and so you have resorted to self-medicating with sleeping pills.  Your psychologist should be able to prescribe you something that works better. - Blu

Wellbutrin can be one of the more stimulating antidepressants and it can actually make anxiety worse for some people. Have you thought about trying another antidepressant? There are others out there that will also help with your anxiety. Taking sleeping pills is not the answer. Yes,I think you should tell your Psychiatrist about your anxiety and the sleeping pills. It really sounds like you need a med change.
