Anxiety

I have had problems with anxiety for most of my life it started with bad separation anxiety when I started school, and seemed to get worse from their.  I took medication for many years to treat it and have been off of the medication for about 4 years now.  I have been fine; I have been doing well without it.  I am currently 32 weeks pregnant, and have been fine thought the rest of my pregnancy but in the last few weeks I have became extremely anxious and I am not sure what has brought on this sudden problem.  I get very upset about my husband leaving for work each day and just really paranoid about being left alone.  I know that he is very worried about me and it really stresses him out now that it seems that I am always upset.  I know that the last few weeks of your pregnancy can get you very emotional with all of the stresses of a new baby.  I just worried that it’s my old problem coming back not just normal pregnancy emotions. I don’t really know what to do about it all and I have not had a chance to discuss it with my doctor, I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar situation or just some advice what they think

I think your pregnancy and your horomones are playing a very large part in your feelings of anxiety. You didn't say if this was your first pregnancy, but if it is, I thinks it's really "normal" to have some fears about being alone. I know I did during my first pregnancy when my husband would leave. I became quite afraid that something would happen when I was alone and spent most of the day being anxious.
Are you a military wife? If so, that might be a contributing factor. If you are in a new location and haven't made any friends yet, that just adds to your feeling of isolation.
But the best advice I can give you is to find the time to get in to see your OB/GYN and discuss all of this with him/her. Keeping all of these fears and worries to yourself is not helping...........time to reach out, which you have done by writing to us, but we are not doctors and I really believe that is who you need to be talking to right now.
Please feel free to keep posting to us...........there are many new moms here and perhaps they can relate and address your fears, but please make the appointment with your doc!
Let us know how you're doing, OK?
Peace
