Anyone Taking Or Previously Taken Prozac?

Anyone Taking Or Previously Taken Prozac?

So I have SEVERE anxiety and a horrible panic disorder. I get chest/rib/back pains and heart palpitations ALL day long and really bad headaches. I just stated taking Prozac (Fluoxetine) this morning so obviously I'm not sure if its working yet. But is anyone taking this medication right now? Or has anyone taken it previously? If you are, please tell me how its working out for you. Or if you took it but don't now, did you stop because you didn't like it? Thanks!

I took it so many years ago.  I think it was about 18 years.  The only thing I remember was that it worked in the begining.  Can't remembe how long it took to start and then after a month or two I think it made me feel worse.  I do remember having sexual problems but that was all I can remember.  The doctor decided to take me off because I felt maybe I felt worse on it but Since it was so long ago that is all I can remebmer.  I know you will start feeling better pretty quick but It does take a while for it to get in your system and start working at its full potental.  Remeber if it doesn't work there are tons of other medince's you can try.  Good Luck

Hello,

I have taken Prozac in the past (worked very well for me, so much that I thought I could get off of it;)  I am now on it again going on about a month.  I am just now starting (I think) to experience some of the therapeutic effects.  My mind has calmed down some.

My experience with it is that it can acutally make you feel worse at first. I have (had) much more morning anxiety as my body adjusted to the medicine.  I do know that Prozac is much easier to come off of than say a Paxil or Zoloft, but everyone responds differently to these meds.  Some people get tired on Prozac I have just the opposite effect.  The main thing is that it takes a while to benefit from the therapeutic effects sometimes as long as 8 weeks.  So just give it time before you give up on it and post here often with your questions and concerns

Prozac helps me. It took like 2 weeks to start working.

Yeah you won't feel the effects after taking it for just a day... you may start to feel the effects after 4 or 5 days of being on it but this really depends on your body chemisty, some people are more sensitive to these types of drugs and need very little to make them feel better and some need high doses to get the same effect...

Every one will react differently to it as well as we are each unique so if you read that one person had a bad experience this really doesn't mean that this will be your story of Prozac, just as well as someone may highly recommend it.

I would say give it a couple of weeks then judge for yourself... if you are feeling alot better then you know it is working for you, if you don't then go back to your doc and he/she may tweek the dose or maybe think about giving you something else to try.

Hope this is useful.... all the best Jx

I like prozac but the first  2 weeks were the worst for me.  I was more depressed and suicidal the first 2 weeks but after that it started working and I wasn't depressed any more and I was just kind of unaffected by stuff as much.
