Anyone has experience with taking Remeron?

by ice_princess, Nov 05, 2009 01:29PM
Hi,

my doctor prescribed me Remeron for severe anxiety and I have never taken any anti-depressants or anti anxiety medicines and I'm scared. I'm also starting psychotherapy next week.

I have horrible dry mouth from anxiety and it came to the point where I get so anxious that I'm throwing up and I feel like I'm dying. right now I just take xanax on a as-needed bases. I know Remeron also cause drymouth. I just can't deal with it, it's like i'm suffocating.

So my question is, have you had this particular anxiety symptom, dry mouth? Have you had the dry mouth side effect from the medication on top of that? What other side effects have you experienced? Is there a better/safer prescription drug that doesn't have dry mouth as a side effect. Hoe long does it take before I can start feeling better?

Thank you in advance.

Dry mouth is not a side effect of my remeron. Never ever had that effect at all. You do know you can get a sollutab form too? Disolves in your mouth. That might be a bit easier on you. I know the other hard tablet version has a horrible taste off of it. But the dry mouth thing is new to me. Never happened before. Other side effects? The vary from user to user. Some gain weight and feel tired all day. Me? None of them at all. I have not gained an ounce in weight and am wide awake. So if can differ. I have been on it for over a year now. I love it. Even the taste of it. Knocks me out at night. But that is about it.

How about sexual side effects? I'm worried about a decreased libido. Do you mind me asking what dosage you take? I got 15 mg and was told to take only half. I read that in higher doses the sedating effect is counteracted somehow.

so you never had any side effects from day one? I'm so concerned.

Libido. Need a sex life before you can have one of them. I am single. Not really one for going out that much. Dr Phil would be better at answering that question than me. Haha !!!!!!!! The only side effect is it puts me to sleep at night. I can wake up about two hours later and be wide awake. Haven't got the dosage at hand. But is mid range. I know people who take a much higher dosage than me. 15mg, to me, is mid range. It can go up to 30mg and higher in some cases. But if it doesn't suit you have a word with your doctor. It is all about trial and error. Finding the right tablet for you.
