Still working on trying to take this paxil in but always fail to take cause worry about side affects and how long the pill least the mgs of that is 10 of the paxil

Cause I was on zoloft and had bad side affects and I've explained that to this new doctor and on the first visit he prescribed it to me. He said was that the paxil will help with the depression and panic attacks and make he feel mild but could take up to 2 to 4 weeks to fully work for me

I agree completely with Paxiled.

There's MANY reasons why taking the Xanax is a bad idea.  For one, benzos aren't ideal sleep aids, and when taken regularly, they will actually cause MORE sleep issues.  Then, there's the issue of dependency.  Even a low dose of a benzo once a day will cause dependence if taken long enough....meaning you would have to be weaned off.  Even with a proper wean, it's not very pleasant, and one of the main things you'd deal with is rebound insomnia, which can make the original insomnia look like a walk in the park.

Furthermore, taking someone else's medications is never a good idea, let alone a controlled substance.  Doctors are REALLY cracking down, many p-docs are hesitant to even prescribe a benzo at all anymore, and some will even occasionally ask that the patient take a drug test, to make sure that they're actually TAKING their medication.  If a comprehensive drug screen was ordered which would show the Xanax specifically, you would find yourself without the Ativan too.

Lastly, it's just never a good idea to start doctoring ourselves where medications are concerned.  If you're having trouble sleeping, you need to talk to your doctor about it, and handle it that way.  I understand it all seems innocent enough, but in the end, you'll do more harm than good.

I'm a firm believer that sleep aids should only be used occasionally, here and there, and only when necessary.

I wouldn't do it personally, and certainly not without a psychiatrist's okay, but I'm not as positive on the ability of psychiatrists as the above post, so there's that.  I also don't think using benzos for sleep is the best idea.  Also, why paxil?  Have you tried other antidepressants first?  Just asking.

No not doing this on my own I was prescribed by my new doctor ativan paxil and a beta blocker, but at the moment taking only the ativan cause I'm still trying to work my way up to take the paxil and the xanax I used to take before all these but it's not prescribed to me it's prescribed to my grandfather Inlaw but am only taking one of those every night to help with sleep and it does. I know I shouldn't be taking someone else's pills I uderstand that but the ativan does not help me with sleep at night that's  why I only take one Ativan in the morning and one xanax at night

Some people can not take Paxil or any other medication in that class.
Talk to your Pdoc. I took Wellbutrin for years as I can't tolerate Paxil.
It did its job. I was recently advised to discontinue so I did.
My Pdoc is strict. She says take your meds the way I ask you to take them or I will care for you in the hospital. I think you should listen to your Pdoc or get a new one.

First always try to take your Pdoc prescribed meds the way your Pdoc tells you to take them.

Were you prescribed two different benzos?  Or are you doing this on your own?  It's certainly an odd prescription.
