Bad day! Weird head feelings, anyone else had this?

Hey there,

I have been suffering with anxiety, panic, agraphobia and depression for about 6 months now. During the last 3 months i have had the most disturbing symptom and was wondering if anyone out there has ever had anything similar? My problem is a strange feeling in my head, kind of a fullness, like a giant air bubble or a ball or something. I keep popping my ears, clicking my neck and shaking my head in the hope that i could make it dissapear. Ive had a blood test, ekg and ct scan of my head and it all came back fine. So what on earth is going on? Am i turning into a schitzophrenic? Im so scared of going crazy. Please if anyone else has ever had this could you let me know.
Thanks

I'm new to these anxiety thing. Apparently according to the doctor that's what I'm currently experiencing. I have really been bugging out with tingly toes and hands, wierd feels in my head, chest pain, which all kinda rolled up on me all of a sudden. I def have been thinking the worst but so far all the tests that have been done have come back fine. The doctor has prescribed me Prozac. Can anyone give some insight on this medicine? And ways to work on controlling the anxiety? Mainly staying out of my head.

I know this is an old post, but I know this feeling, like the inside of my head is spinning!  It also feels dizzy in there, especially toward the top.  Sometimes when I have this, like today, I become unable to talk for a little while, like locked up.  I can write and make sounds, but not always the sounds I am trying for.  Somebody told me it might be an absence seizure, have you heard of that?  I have anxiety and have attacks with medical stuff, so I don't want to tell my doc, b/c she will want to run tests, which will ramp up an attack.

Hi all.  I too have suffered with anxiety attacks for many years. Three months ago I started having stabbing pains, tickley feeling and numbness in the top of my head etc, most of the symtoms that you are all having.  Even though I knew deep in my heart that it was anxiety, as I have had these head pains before, I convinced myself that it was a sinus infection, or worse. I bought all kinds of sinus and hay fever pills and sprays. The other day I went to the doctors and he told he did all kinds of tests and then asked me if I was anxious about anything...well I just burst into tears and told him of my worries about my elderly parents etc...well that was it. I am now back on medication after managing without for four years. Even though I knew all along that it was anxiety, my mind was trying to block it out and tell me it was something worse. It is very hard to keep a possitive attitude while all these symtoms are ruling your thoughts.  But there is light at the end of the tunnel for me and all of you. Your mind can be your biggest foe. But you can win the batttle with the right medication. KIM

i've had this akward head feeling for about five years now. i'm almost eighteen. it feels like i am inside my own head, setting back in my mind and trying to look out of a clear glass window. is that what you all are talking about? well i had started feeling very anxious the past week and now i'm taking lexapro, an anxiety medicine, and hope that it will work. look up on yahooanswers some success with lexapro. but overall, the head feeling has to be anxiety. i've gotten 2 blood tests, and a brain mri. but everything was fine. it's just physcological. so SERIOUSLY, if you're bothered with this feeling, talk to your doctor about getting on medication. if that's too much, then my doctor recommended exercising, staying away from caffiene, and having a regualar sleeping pattern. i hope this helps people that have that weird head feeling, becuase i'm a contant victim of 5 years. i know it *****. good luck!

I hate the pressure in your head feeling!!

Sometimes I get it as a foggy feeling as though Im trying to focus through a dirty window or something. It makes it hard to actually have a meaningful thought process as you feel like you are fighting your way out just to see!! (well thats me anyway),

othertimes its like im in a dream. Like one of those running dreams where you struggle really hard to move forward.. Thats what it can start to feel like. Your head is foggy and then each step you just uses sooo much energy... I had confused this feeling with lack of food and low sugar. But this was not the case.

I notice at very stressful times (even when Im not aware Im stressed) I start to commentate myself. And then when Im really really stressed I commentate my commentating and then that makes me sooo frustrated cause its hard enough to concentrate with a big ball of pressure in your head.  And most of the time my thoughts are meaningless or negative. ARGH!!

basically what you need to do at these times is just realise what is going on and accept it. Know that you are feeling stressed. Denial will get you no where.

Good Luck with learning to deal with you Anxiety. Im new to this forum. But from reading others posts I can see they are very helpful and caring. :)

Niamic~you are so far from alone on this one! I get the pressure feeling in the head all the time as well. It feels like a stuffy head (sinus), the only thing is that I never ever had a sinus problem until Anxiety entered my life. I also experience a floating feeling, like a spacy type feeling..sometimes it feels like my head is spinning but strangly, only on the inside. Very weird I agree and scary...however like you, I seen every dr. there is and took every test known to man....all say ANXIETY!!! Please don't let it win by worrying yourself even more, this is what feeds it. Please find ways to keep occupied...I notice when I', around family or friends or at a party...I get No symptoms (Not One). That convinces me that all this is...is really anxiety.

Good Luck and don't give up!  :)

You are obviously worried. This is a definite sign of anxiety. What kind of answers are you looking for? Are you looking for someone to tell you something terrible, it seems you truly believe in your mind it is something really bad; another example of anxiety. I am not a Dr. but feel for your desire to find someone who has the exact same feeling as you do. Unfortunately not everyone has the same symptoms.  If you have had all the tests ran and Dr.s have said its Anxiety, then it is. Are you afraid of heights, passing out in front of a crowd? if so these are all anxiety related. You stated you're agoraphobic. This is also a sign of anxiety. You are not alone, I have had several friends and I have also dealt with anxiety. The best thing to do is get rid of it. PILLS are NOT the answer. I have a book that tells you everything you want to know about anxiety and symptoms of it. Weird feelings in your head are quite common with anxiety. Dizziness, off balance, full ears (meaning pressure though you can still hear out of them) What if thoughts? You name it, your fine!! I hope this makes you feel better, though I am NOT an expert I know anxiety! Get this book as soon as possible: The Panic Attack, Anziety & Phobia Solutions Handbook by, Muriel MacFarlane, R.N., M.A.   its a white paper back unless they changed the cover, with Dark purplish blue & Lavender writing. I feel for you, but only you can help yourself. Nobody you know ever seems to understand and just think your off your rocker, your not, if your a woman you will experience these crazy, weird feelings. Agoraphobia will keep you in the house, you need to get this book as soon as possible and READ IT, its truly amazing!
Good luck to you,
Sof

I have it myself..Well according your description. Yes it *****, very very distressing and scary. Also this is extremeley hard to describe it in words.
I have suffered panic atacks and  severe anxiety disorders for the most of my life...
Currently I take clonazepam and celexa for this.

I know what you are talking about. It is kind of like pressure, I used to say like a ball rolling around between my eyes or something. It was there ALL the time, w/heavy head feeling, kind of making you off balance?? Is that it?? I haven't had it for a while but during my deepest, darkest times, it was there relentlessly. As I came out of it, it too dissapeared. We can chat if you want!

I definitely have experienced this as well.. It;s like a crazy spacyness feeling.. definitely not comfortable atttt all... and it makes me feel even more anxious.. but the good news, i guess, is that it is normal to experience with anxiety... unfortunately

Well Niamac im suffering from anxiety (panic attakcs ) for 4 years now.Theres  nothing to worry and u cant go crazy. The anxiety is putting those thoughts into your head trust me.A person that experience panic attacks first thing that s/he thinks is that s/he is going crazy i thought the same, but to make u feel better you arent going crazy. The panic attack always attack with strange symptoms, all u need to do is to pay attention less on that and that symptom will be gone ...there is a chance to appear other one and again just let it be dont think of it :D Also its good to visit psychiatrist im visiting one and now im very good also the panic attack can strike from time to time but all i need is time to get over it :D
So dont worry :)

Hi there!
I am by no means an expert, but I wouldn't worry about it being a sign of schizophrenia.  My only advice for you would be to go to a different doctors and have tests run again.  I would also go see a neurologist- maybe there's a neurological reason you feel that sensation?
