Been using xanax for 100 days now/need advice

when I got off the Oxy doc gave me 2mg xanax to use to help ease anxiety. I've never used over 1/4 piece at a time, however, I would like to stop taking it since I'm 100 days free of the Oxy. Can I just stop at this small of a dose or should I taper off it. I hear bad w/d stories about this drug but those stories are much higher doese. I take 1/4 piece 3x a day and 1/4 piece at night.

Oh! I gotcha, OK so I kinda do that but can do better than I am. Cool, just gave my wife all of em, she's supportive in helping me out w these things. She's going to just put 2 pieces in the tray and I'll take them to work and only use it if really really needed and taper off of them as the days go by.
Thankyou for your help...I'll listen to whatever else you have for me too.

No, that is not what I mean. If I were you I would not take the same dosage every day and I would try to miss a day here and there. I would try to move to an as-needed basis. It is using a maintenance dose that creates the addiction.

what do you mean Erratic usage? like if I use 1/4 in the morning and then none till bedtime using 1/2 to sleep? This is that 2mg bar that you break in 1/4 s

You are taking a total of 2 mg daily. That is not a small dose. A small dose would be .25 mg or .50 mg. daily. So, no, it is not a good idea to go cold turkey. You would have to cut back very gradually. Maybe go to 1.5 mg and stay on that for a week or so, and then cut back again. Alternatively you can become erratic in your use - not take the same amount every day - but all the while cutting back slowly. That is what would work for me. Erratic usage is also a good way not to get addicted in the first place.
