Bruising easier while on an SSRI (ie. Celexa)

I've always bruised fairly easily - well, easier than the "typical" person, I guess - but ever since going on 20 mg/day of Celexa in February, I've been noticing a lot more bruises than usual.  For some I recall how the trauma occurred, for others it's a total mystery.  They clear up in about the same amount of time as usual.

Could this be related to taking an SSRI?  I googled it and did find something, but you're never sure how credible some of this stuff online is, you know? ;-)

The SSRI's can cause easy bruising and even increase bleeding tendencies, especially if taken along with aspirin or NSAIDS (like Motrin).

You should notify your doctor of the bruising.

Good luck!

Besides the bruising, how are you doing on Celexa?  My daughter is on 40 mg, but has only been on that dose for about 10 days.  How long did it start to work for you?  Thanks.  And sorry about the bruising, I have no information about that.
