Buspar and it's side effects.

My Dr has put me on Buspar, actually the generic version.  I'm currently on 20mg per day and should step-up to 30mg by this coming Saturday 4/28/07. I'm now experiencing more drowziness 45 minutes after taking the dose which goes away in 2 1/2 to 3 hours after taking.  I'm also having a "buzzing" sensation as if flys were buzzing around my head and going from ear to ear.  Other than these, I'm not having any other side-effects but these two side effects bother me;  I've called my Dr and am awaiting a call back.  Has anyone else experienced this or have past dealings with Buspar or it's generic?  Thx in advance, Thom.

I am on buspar (the generic, like you) and have not had side effects at all.  Maybe I did at the beginning, but I was in such bad shape ANYTHING was an improvement.  Hope the buzzing leaves you soon!

Hi thomj513,

I have had similar side effects. Mine were a bit different though, I always got a weird feeling around my eyes whenever I would blink. (thats the best way I can explain it). Have you just started taking it? Usually the side-effects dissipate after a few days of continued use. Otherwise, I would recommend switching to an anti-depressant (Well-Butrin is good) and a PRN anti-anxiety medication like Ativan

hope this helps!

I know this is an old post but was looking for someone who had similiar symptoms...I just started taking buspar (generic also) and am also having some pretty discomforting symptoms. Dizziness, and massive ear-ringing. If it continues longer than a few hours I dont think I'll be taking it anymore. I am so sick of trying different meds. I think I've literally tried every anti-dep/anti-anxiety med out there and none have helped or were too disabling for me. I'm really starting to give up hope for this late-30 something.
