thank you all very much, i will really give it a good go,my anxiety started with heart palpitations witch scared me into thinking i was going to have a heart attack, now two years down the line i can deal with the palps cos obviously i have had so many of them and am still here to tell the tale!!! and have not had a heart attack so i know my kids will be safe....the problem is that i started getting every other physical symptom of anxiety witch lead to a full scale panic attack and have even called for an ambulance (what a time waster). this is the last straw and i need to just face this head on and learn how to cope and hopefully be able to relax once again when i get 5 minutes at the end of the day. :)

No, this is cognitive behavioral therapy.  It's supposed to be the most successful type of therapy for anxiety attacks, but hard evidence is hard to come by in this world.  I did it without success, but many have done it with success.  It takes work, but it has helped a lot of people.  I definitely recommend this to everyone on this board, because when it does work it tends to stick.  Go for it.  Good luck.  But make sure the therapist really knows how to do it and isn't just claiming to know how to do it.  I also think if you have phobias it's good if the person will go out with you -- mine didn't, and I think that may be one reason it didn't take, but I also think I didn't have the most caring therapist.

I'm not sure, but I think you are referring to inpatient therapy.  If so, please go to my page and read my journal entry 'my psych ward story'.  It's NOT scary, and it is long, but worth the time if you are considering this.  Blessings - Blu

I haven't but I am certainly going to give it a go here in June.  It can't hurt ya so why not try!!  I have heard good things about it!  Usually pills and cbt work wonders!! Thats what I have read anyway.  I asked to be referred because I want to get my anxiety under control again instead of playing around with dosages on medication for the rest of my life.
