CJ29 are you there...need some support please

by distressed29, Sep 23, 2008 04:18PM
Having a bad day....I have been feeling so good lately then I did something I shouldn't of.  I examined and pushed on the lesion on my leg that I have been worried about.  For those of you that do not know, I had a biopsy on a lesion on my leg that the derm. suspected to be skin cancer.  Good news is that it came back as a benign solar lentigo.  However, after reading on the internet about skin biopsies ..the derm. should of done an excisional biopsy rather than a shave biopsy (which is what he did).  The internet states that a shave biopsy can lead to misdiagnosis of skin cancer, but in most cases the shave biopsy detects melanoma.  I  have been doing so well accepting the results.  Please can someone give me some words of support so that I can continue my day...I am trying to think positively.

Ok, you did receive good news from your biopsy. Take a deep breath and process those results.  Now, remember the internet contains a wealth of info which sometimes can be good and other times not help us terrific anxious type of people. Be careful with what you read and remember to put some trust in your Dr. Talk with your Dr. of the concerns you have stated. Try to spend some time with a friend or a family member tonight. You could even call someone. Call your Dr. soon, ok? Keep us posted.

Blessings and Peace

I did speak with the nurse at the dr. office and she told me that an excisional biopsy would of been done if any cancer cells were found in the shave biopsy.  I'm going to accept these results and move on.l
