Can anxiety cause sporadic and loud ringing in ears?

Within the last few months I have had a sudden on set of pretty bad stress and anxiety, most likely related to school and my work load. The first time I had a panic attack I had just finished smoking (medical marijuana) and was preparing for bed. Before I knew it there was this very loud ringing in my ears, so loud I couldn't hear over it. My heart was pounding incredibly hard. I was feeling cold even when I put a sweatshirt on. My chest was tight and I had uncontrollable shaking. I also had slight pains in my arm. So I ended up calling 911 and the paramedics said I was fine and that it was just the THC causing a reaction in my body. So I decided from there that I would try a different type of marijuana that was meant to relax me. This time I didn't have a full on attack but it was simply just ringing in my ears, and I didn't even smoke it I had been using a vaporizer. After this I decided to take a break from it all together. It has been about a month now since I've used medical marijuana last and since then I've had a few panic attack, related to anxiety, but no ear ringing was involved. I went to see my physician and he prescribed me 2 types of pills to help me relax and help lower my anxiety IF I had an attack again.
Just last night I woke up in the middle of the night at about 3am and I had that same very loud ringing in my ears. I took the first pill and it didn't make it go away so I took the other like my doctor had suggested. Still nothing. I was able to control my breathing just fine and stay relaxed. I had a sweatshirt on and a blanket over my legs but was still feeling chilly, and the ringing in my ears would not go away. I sat in my living room attempting to distract my self for a few hours while the ringing went from quite to loud every few minutes or so. This lasted for a couple hours and eventually went away completely and I was able to go back to sleep. I am not quite sure what exactly is going on or what it is. I would love any insight into this.

PS. I DO have an appointment with my physician for a physical this coming week and hope to find more results.

I only take either when I start to feel anxious. The propranolol hasn't given me any of those side effects though, I'd tell your doctor how it's making you feel, that doesn't sound normal to me. From what I understand propranolol is simply a beta blocker and should help calm your nerves more than anything. But again I would stop taking it if it's making you feel worse, as well as contact your doctor like I said before.

Some people just can not smoke marijuana because it can cause them to have anxiety.

The doctor game me Propranolol and Xanax. Yes, the first time it happened was when I smoked it, but since then it's happened even though I haven't been smoking. I even tried a different strain, before I quit, that was meant to help with anxiety and relaxation.

Yes, ringing in the ears can happen with anxiety. Can you say what meds your Dr prescribed? Some are meant to work very fast and some take time.
I've heard of many people having panic attacks while smoking marijuana. Did the first one happen when you were smoking it? If so, you can get in to a cycle of being afraid you'll have another one, and sometimes because of that fear you will have another one.
I'm really glad to hear you have an appointment set up.
