Can anyone tell me about paxil

Hi my doctor wants me to start on paxil on top of my ativan and risperdal does anyone know about paxil and what I can expect with this med I hate taking meds to begin with so I dont want to start another one if I don't have to. Any info wold be great. Thank you.

I hate meds too i am very sensitive to them i hated paxil it made my heart feel like it was flipping....but don't stopping taking it unless your doc okays it....

Paxil can be helpful, has a high side effect profile, and can be one of the toughest to get off of.  Why does your doc want to put you on a third med?  Give us a better explanation of what's going on so we can help more.

Paxil made my anxiety worse!  But we are not all the same...some people swear by this med..and I cannot say how I feel about it without getting into trouble on the board! : )  I have found that I can live without that junk in my body!  

I think your doctor is also giving you Ativan when you need it in case you get a really bad attack....Paxil by itself does not help.  JMO.  I would rather just take the Ativan and stick to the required dosage.  Alot of people are against benzo's and state they are highly addictive.,...for some they are...I have been on mine for the past 8 yrs at the same dose!  Just need to be really responsible.  It all depends on the individual..my mom was on xanax for 15 yrs....she said it was hard for the 1st month...but she is fine.  She didn't lose her mind, she continued with her life and slowly she is off and now taking lexapro along with Ativan...but she does say she is a tad bit more nervous. I hope you find the right dosage and the right medication. I always say...there is no miracle pill for anxiety!  We just learn what works best for us and use different coping skills.  I found mine. I feel very blessed.
