Celexa Help

I have been on 40mg's of celexa for about 8 month's now and also 1mg a day of klonopin each day.  I recently tried cutting from 40 to 20 mg's of the celexa to get myself off of it and was having such a weird feeling like my head was sinking in.  I then started taking 40mg's again and tried stopping the klonopin that did not work!  I was having such panic attacks without the klonopin once I took it it made a world of a difference.  So I asked the doctor if it is really necessary for me to be on celexa and I would like to come off of it and just take klonopin as i'm doing right now...he tells me no to take both...I'm going to try and take myself off of the celexa again i am just not sure on how to do it I know it has to be done gradually.  Please tell me how to go about this?????

I was originally put on it for panic attacks I don't have depression but since I started this I feel depressed.  But I also take klonopin as well which helps me the most for panic thank God!  Well they don't have 30mg tablets so i'm gradually doing from 40 to 20 for a few weeks then 20mgs every other day for 2 weeks...

First - if your dr. recommends staying on the celexa - perhaps you should.  Ask your Dr. why you need to stay on it - he/she might have good reasons.  I know my dr. wanted me to wait until the spring to start decreasing the celexa since the longer days help with your seretonin levels.
Second - when/if you do start decreasing celexa - you have to do it much more gradually. You shouldn't reduce the dose by more than 10 mg at a time - then keep to that dose until you feel stable at the dose - then decrease again.  You need to take it slowly to prevent major side effects.  It is possible to decrease - but do it a little at a time.

Hope that helps.

I just figured am I taking this for no reason?  When I stopped the klonopin for a few days I was having panic attacks then once i started taking klonopin again I felt so much better thank God!  I don't have depression that wasn't hte main purpose i was put on celexa but I kind of feel depressed ever since.  I'm 26 years old I would like to just try without celexa and only take the klonopin
