Celexa and insonmnia?

by tigereyedjames, Apr 07, 2009 02:11PM
Has anybody out there who is or has taken Celexa suffered from insomnia?
Before I was put on the drugs, my anxiety was causing me not to sleep, and I suffered from weeks straight of anxiety. But then, after having several anxiety-free days, good days where I was happy and stress-free, I still found myself incapable of sleeping more than a few hours a night, and this was with the help of Temazepam...I wasn't waking up with the old anxiety symptoms, like "adrenaline heart" or worry, I just wake up after only a few hours completely awake.
I just wanted to know if this is common, and about how long I can expect this to happen? I have been on the drug now for 12 days, and I have also been suffering from some increased nausea and I attribute this to the drug as well, as it comes and goes indescriminately.
Anyways, and help would be greatly appreciated!

I've been on celexa for about 8 weeks now....

I was having trouble getting to sleep at first and still needed some occasional xanax to help my mind stop racing....i then found myself getting to sleep fine but waking up much earlier than normal...now, I am getting to sleep pretty easily and staying asleep.

I think you probably need to give the celexa another couple of weeks and see if you have improvement.

I have sleep problems with all SSRI's.  Celexa has caused the least for me, but still have problems waking early and sometimes several times a night.  It really did help with the anxiety, though.

Hey, thanks guys for the comments...gives me much to chew on.
I am super hopeful that the Celexa will help with the anxiety, and also at least get me to the point where I am sleeping at least a few hours a night...I'll keep posting.
