Celexa questions?

I was having some bad anxiety about 5wks ago after finding a lump on my side what has turned out to be just a fatty deposit. Had panic attacks and the whole bit. Had my heart checked and blood work and all was well. Dr. put me on Effexor xr and i had some bad side effects. 37.5 mg for 3 wks. Then she switched me to Celexa 20 mg taking for one wk with Effexor and then Effexor every other day. The Effexor did curb my anxiety. Been on Celexa for 2wks now. A wk on its own. I still have some of the side effects like Effexor but have very bad stomach cramps, nausea, bubble in chest feeling with gurgling at night, tingiling, trouble urinating like its held back, bowl movements only a couple x's a week and sometimes are loose with burning, pain in groin area and loss of sex drive with painful and extended ejaculation. Is this from the Celexa or going off the Effexor. Will these side effects go away as i take the Celexa longer since its only been 2 weeks? Should i go see the doc?

I've taken Celexa for years, it take up to 6 to 8 weeks for the full affect to kick in.  It sounds to me like it is withdrawal from the Effexor.  Be patient...the Celexa will kick in and it is very good for Anxiety.

Without a doubt you should return to your doctor and discuss these side effects, and a few other things as well....................

Having some anxiety, and/or actual anxiety attacks, is a perfectly normal reaction to finding a mysterious and frightening lump on your side. This is called "situational anxiety" because it has a direct and obvious cause. Once the lump had been diagnosed as a benign fatty depsoit, your anxiety should have abated. Was that not the case? Did your anxiety continue, perhaps even escalate? I just wonder why the decison was made to put you on antidepressants, a medication that should be taken by people who are clinically depressed, not someone who had a bout of anxiety for a damn good reason. And if your doctor thought you were still exhibiting some anxiety, why not put you on a short course of a mild antianxiety med first?
If you do not feel depressed or anxious, I would certainly ask your doctor why he was putting on such potent medication. Considering all the side effects you're having, I wouldn't be the least surprised if you're NOW horribly anxious!
I think your doctor is a bit of a quack and likes his pharmaceutical kick backs a little too much. I don't think he is taking YOUR best interest to heart. If he was, he should have recommended some therapy for any anxiety you may have been feeling before pumping you full of drugs.
I hope you will give this some thought before you see your doctor again.
Peace
