Changing from Lorazepam to Xanax

Changing from Lorazepam to Xanax

Hi All,
I'd like to get your input on swiching from Lorazepam to Xanax. I took Lorazepam for 4 months, 2.5 mg/day. A months ago I decided to ween off Lorazepam and started with 0.5 mg. I took 17 days with unpleasant symptoms. When I felt a little better and I cut out 0.25 more so I was on 1.75 mg/day but the symptoms were more difficult, especially restlessness. I went to doc and discussed this and changing to Xanax which I had a good experience with before starting Lorazepam taking only 0.25/day (a doc in ER swiched me to Lorazepam in July when I suffered from a throid hormon inbalance). My doc calculated how much Xanax I should take for 1.75 mg Lorazepam and gave me 0.75 mg Xanax (0.25 3 times/day) however this dosage seems to be to small and for the last 2 days I got increased anxiety. Today I decided to incre1ase the dosage of Xanax with 0.5 mg more, basically to 1.25 mg Xanax.

Is there anyone who went through this change and can share some thoughts with me?

Thanks in advance

Just to share, I take klonopin everyday 1 mg, for about a year. I have been addicted to XANAX. ITs the harderst benzo to get off of and the easiest to become addicted to. Yes it works the best but can be HELL mentally and physically to get off of. Take with caution and NEVER take more than perscrebed. Best to take as needed if possible. KLONOPIN is good for me.

Hi
I have never taken Xanax because I am an addict and my Dr said it was too addicting.  I think it may be shorter acting and stronger than lorazepam, which I took for years.  It helped me tremendously, but wasn't potent enough for my anxiety after awhile, so he switched me to Klonopin, which is a very long acting drug that stays in the system several hours after you take it.  That particular drug works great for me.  I have to take less of it and less often. It can make you tired, so I just take half a dose when I can and it feels fine.
That's all I can tell you.  My doc won't give me Xanax because he said he
would never give an addict Xanax, so I can't help you there, but similar drugs
I have experience with I have alot of background on.  Good luck on the adjustment.
