Chest Pains

Hi - I'm new here but I've been having stress related chest pains for about 3 years. Now mind you, I'm only 22 but no one can seem to find a way to make them stop. I've had EKGs, Echo-cardiograms, stress tests, blood work and have been prescribed xanax, nexium, and kilonopin - all which have not worked. I just want something that manages the pain because it's more so annoying than an interruption in my activities. I have even tried to sort of mediate and breath, which helps a little but not to the extent of making them go away.

I have just gotten home from the ER where, yet again, they have failed to stop these pains. They ran blood work, EKGs and tried Ativan and some other medicine which was a sort of chalky liquid that numbs the esophagus... Nothing. I plan on calling my primary physician to see if there are any other treatments because this is sort of getting old.

Has anyone else had an experience resembling this or have any advice? I'm sort of at the end of my rope.

Hi there, I am not sure if this is actually advice but I would like to share my experience with you.

About four months ago I started feeling chest pain and at first I tried to ignore it but it got worse and more frequent. I finally ended up going to the doctor and after bloodwork, an EKG, and a cardiac stress test the doctor told me that my heart is fine and that the pain could be muscular.  One time while driving I had a little episode where I felt like I was going to faint, I got sweaty, with a rapid heart beat and that scared me very much. I went back to the doctor and he told me it could have been an axiety attack but that I should get my brain checked just to be sure. I never did because I could not afford it so the doctor said that if it happened again I should do it. Anyway, the chest pain went away for a while, actualy, until about a month ago it came back and it has not gone away since. I get it every day through out the day which ***** but I have also been getting other symptoms which apparently mean that I have an anxiety disorder.

To make the story short, I have had three EKG's, three sets of bloodwork, cardiac stress test, one visit to the ER and so far it all points to anxiety disorder. This Thursday I have my appointment for a brain MRI but like the doctor says, more than likely its going to be anxiety but we have to do the MRI to rule out everything else.

I  know how you feel, living everyday with the same thought in your mind; "whats wrong with me?" Thats me every day, it has really started to interfere with my daily life so what I do is talk to the people around me about it, somehow that makes me feel a little better.

I really hope you find a way to cope with your pain because like my doctor said; "if there was something wrong with your heart we would have seen it already."
