Chest Pains

by CaliGirl48, Dec 15, 2007 05:16PM
I know my chest pains are due to my anxiety, I just need to convince myself of that now. They are really stressing me out! Does anyone know what the differences are between heart related chest pains and those that come with anxiety? Are they in different parts of the chest? Any info would help me with my fear.

My pains are a dull achy type pain in the center pf my upper chest, above my breasts. Sometimes I only feel it on one side, the left mainly, and its feels almost like it is in the muscles or tissues in my breast. Its hard to explain. I feel a little relief when I rub the area that is aching but then it comes back when I stop. These pains just come out of the blue, not after exercising or anything just out of the blue and then I can't stop focusing on them.

Go on line and Google Sympathetic Nervouse System.  My Psychologist gave me a diagram of all the parts of the body that anxiety has an effect on.  The same diagram is on the web, and it sure made it easier for me to understand why my bladder had suddently developed a mind of its own.  Just did a quick search and there are a few good diagrams that should help you better understand. God Bless in your journey to good health.

Heart related chest pain generally comes on with exertion, which is not the case with you.Furthermore, true heart pain is more like a pressure and a feeling of someone sitting on your chest.I also get the same pain that you do and I try to convince myself that it is anxiety related.Four cardios have confirmed this and a small fortune in cardiac testing to prove to myself that the sensations are anxiety related! What I have found is that the more you focus on them the worse they become,as the mind is so powerfull. The worse thing I ever did was google symptoms of a heart attack. Before this I used to get the ocassional pain etc,and never worried. But after knowing what the symptoms were I began to get all the symtoms that I had googled, and like you would be fixated on them to the extent that I believed I had heart disease. You have to let it go and not worry about your heart.I believe that had I not known the symptoms of heart attack, I would never have ended up a nervous wreck. Now if only I could follow my own advice...!Anxiety sux!!
Good Luck,
Dimi.

yes unfortunately i have already googled the symptoms ...sigh....my pains aren't pressure really, just little minor pains like what a bruise feels like. And whats weird is they aren't deep, like I would think they would be if they were heart related. And for the rare momments that I am thinking about something other than the pain, they go away. They feel more like they are in my breast tissue or mucles...anyway I hate this, it really is awful...thanks so much for sharing your comments with me....they do help

I hope you feel better.I have been going through this hell with my heart now for over a year. All the classic symptoms ,yet all tests negative!Like i said, anxiety sux.Sometimes I think its better to be diagnosed with a physical ailment that can be cured, rather than having this ongoing battle with your mind.
Best wishes for christmas.
