Chest pain in sleep and in waking

by GTO67, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM
This is pretty scarry. Sometimes when im asleep i actualy feel chest pains in my dreams. Like my "character" to say in my dreams is having severe crushing chest pains, then the really scary part of this is i actualy wake up with this same crushing pain on my chest and it goes away within the minuite. I havent had this for months and it just returned last night. I do have anxiety disroder and hypochondria (My thread is a few under this one).  And i do sleep on the couch with my head rested on my arm due to anxiety (I know its weird). What im worried about is sleep apnea im really afraid to go to sleep tonight.

Have you considered GERD or LPR: http://www.entnet.org/healthinfo/topics/GERD.cfm

by GTO67, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM
Yes in  fact i was praying that its just GERD. I probably have gerd due to my stomach problems during the day, but as anyone of us with anxiety, the most dangerous problem is the one we belive we have.

Hm...Funny, im reading about LPR and i did wake up this morning feeling like i had a sore throat (I even hacked up some weird pieces of what might have ben digested sunflower seeds (i eat alot of those at night) and i was almost positive i was sick. Yet im not.

I would go to your GP and ask about just this. My best guess is, this is what you are experiencing.

hi hun, ive read your thread, and im a sufferer from anxiety attacks and panic disorder. and ive done alot of research on the subject. I also have chatrooms and studies i conduct for a book im writing on panic disorder. i have a few things to offer you on your problem. and its from my own experiences aswell as from other studies. ive personaly had these chest pains your talking about, ive had them while im asleep and awake to just like you. you can have panic attacks during sleep. ive learned this from research  and from my own anxiety. ive also found that what you eat and how you eat can effect this. i personaly have an ulser so i try to watch what i eat. and the main thing i found hun was to make sure i chew my food real good. by not chewing your food good enough traps air behind it and causes gas bubbles so to speak. id say the pains you are having are gas pains. i get them all the time and i just make myself belch. even though i know its not good manners it helps me bigtime. oh and i never eat alot at one time. i try to eat small meals more thru out the day. and its helped me. i was eating big meals once or twice a day and over eating, then id just sit around. was a bad combo. lol
so i hope this might help you hun. oh and always go to your doctor and get checked when you have any kind of chst pains. better safe than sorry.
