Chest pain... my heart hurts and I feel short of breath.

I always feel this pressure on my chest, and it hurts... short of breath. I've been struggling with this for a couple months now and I was doing good for a couple of weeks and now its come back. :( I've been on Paxil and had 6 EKGs in two months and my heart is fine, but my anxiety is getting the best of me. Does anyone else feel this? :( the pain in the heart and hard to breathe?

i feel your pain and aggony. and edgy is right i wish green would answer on this but she must be busy. Anyway i statrted the same thing back in Aug chest pain all of a sudden then chest and arm then so on and so forth. Well between Aug till Feb was when i finally got relief a lil bit. I was seen in the ER multiple times i have had over 12 ekgs. I have had an echo and stress test as well. I even spent an overnight in the ER. Lemme put it to you like this is you feel its something more ask to be referred to a cardiologist. Honestly that was the end of the road for me so far. I mean what started all this was my wife told me im prego and boom a week later chest pains and it progressed from there. Honestly it went away a bit and well now its creeping back again. My wife gave birth 2 weeks ago 7 weeks early and then needed surgery so i thin i know what is starting this crap again. So yeah anxiety *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anxiety can manfiest itself in many ways in my opinion.  When I initially went through my experience with anxiety, it was due to concerns I had about my heart health.  I felt tightness in my chest and short of breath only for the docs to tell me everything was fine.  I had multiple trips to the ER and had various tests all with the same conclusion:  Medically, I was good to go.
Of course, anxiety is very powerful and I did not believe the diagnosis for months.  How could I when I felt palpatations, twinges, pains, etc?  You name it, I felt it.
I tend to believe that we can become oversensitized to our area of concern and furthermore, that we can misinterpret our 'symptoms.'  For example, when I was going through this if I felt any sort of chest pain, the alarm bells would go off and I just knew that something was wrong, when before I would have just shrugged it off and kept on doing what I was doing.  I also believed that any symtpom that I thought could be possibly be related to my heart health was.  Now, I still focus in on that area and still feel the same 'symptoms' that I did years ago, however, I know that these are just normal everyday aches and pains.
For me, getting counseling and learning about the anxiety was the most critical decision I made in confronting it.  I also realized that what I was experiencing was not uncommon and that many people have gone through the same thing.  Initially, anxiety is both scary and confusing but as with anything we confront and gain knowledge about, it becomes a challenge that can be overcome.  In my opinion, we tend to fear what we don't understand, and most of us don't understand anxiety when it appears to strike us out of the blue, but as we learn about it we realize that it can be dealt with and be dealt with quite effeciently.  Keep us posted!

It is the anxiety that is causing you all this worry. yes you have pain but it is magnified by your anxious thoughts.

I know it is hard for you to reason with yourself. Hell, I wish I'd listen to my own words sometimes. Anxiety just magnifies everything around you. Get rid of the anxiety, and all the worry goes away. Easier said than done.

Sorry to gear what you are going thru.

You are not alone hun. I'm in the same exact boat. My chest hurts all the time get short of breath and I'm scared to crap.

I have had many ekg and a stress test and they say its normal.
But I'm in disbelief as to the results being normal because I'm still in pain and sometimes can't breath. And I also read about the stress test and ekg could miss something.

And my fiance aunt just told us about her having two stints put in because she had blockage and chest pain for a month.

I suffer from anxiety and panic with some depression. And I know this is making it worst. Why can't we take what the dr say and move on?? Well my kind say its anxiety but its hard to just move on.

I hope you start to get better and have less pain..

Hi,
As you have been seen by a doctor, are on an antidepressant know for its anxiety reducing qualities, and have had 6 EKGs in 2 months' time, it may be that anxiety is the culprit here.

I am not a doctor, but if you continue to have these feelings, check back with prescribing doctor.  Therapy is often suggested when you are taking medication, and could be very helpful.

Unfortunately, anxiety can cause many physical symptoms.  Learning to relax is important. Taking deep breaths when stressed for a start.
