Dislike of own pulse/heartbeat

Dislike of own pulse/heartbeat

Hi there.

Ok so I've never really liked my own pulse. I can't sit still for prolonged amounts of time without feeling "bleh". Usually it's fine and I can deal with it, but of late I've had trouble sleeping because of it. I have to position myself in a certain place so that I can't feel the pulse in my neck (the right side carotid artery I believe) otherwise I have to move.

Just wondering if this has occured in anyone before and whether it's a phase I'm going through. Also whether focusing on it (intentionally or not) is making it worse.

Thanks!

I dont know if this is exactly what your feeling, but my pulse is very sporatic and sometimes beats really really fast or other times beats really slow, but really hard and almost hurts my chest.  This bothers me sooo much, especially when I'm trying to sleep and my pulse is going crazy for some random reason.
Focusing on it definitly makes it worse...try and get your mind off it, because there isnt much you can do.  Deep breathing can slow your pulse down, I take 3 really deep breathes when my pulse goes crazy. I think yoiu are just obsessing over the pulse though, and getting your mind off it would make it a lot better.

since i was in school i had experiencing such kinds of pains, but for me it is adjacent on top of the left shoulder, and it makes me feel like i should have masage but it will be worse if i got some one to give me. its realy annoying and frustrating, for me there are so many people that have noted that i got this problem nut no one have helped me and im worried bcos i can`t even study when its time to study. it is worse during this time, some times i thought it caused by stress. but it also happened even if im sitting with my gfriend and by that time i will be angry such that no one will be next to me. i will be glad find help from this because i can not do anything if this has come over my shoulders.

This is anxiety to a T. Typical symptom of what happens during an anxiety attack. It only seems worse because you are honing in on it and concentrating on your heart beat. If you take your pulse and you are not like 140+ beats a minute than you really have nothing to worry about except getting your anxiety attack under control. What works? Well, that is differnt for everyone. Try different things...I know it is hard but, find something to get your mind off things or stop worrying and you will be on your way to controlling it. Petting a dog, do some reading, etc. Just a couple examples that may help. Most importantly.....stop worrying.
