Do I have testicualer cancer?

by dothackzero, Dec 25, 2008 10:30AM
lump in either testicle: I don't think so, but if there was would be pretty obvious?
enlargement of a testicle: I don't think so, one is supposed to be slightly bigger than the other one right?
a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum: Sometimes, usually when I'm standing up for a long time.
a dull ache in the lower abdomen or the groin:  I dont't think so?
a sudden collection of fluid in the scrotum: I don't think so?
pain or discomfort in a testicle or the scrotum: I think that only happens when the sack gets pinched.
enlargement or tenderness of the breasts: no

Scientists have found few risk factors that make a man more likely to develop testicular cancer. Even if a man has one or more risk factors for this disease, it is impossible to know for sure how much that risk factor contributes to developing the cancer. Also, most men with testicular cancer do not have any of the known risk factors.

Undescended testicle: I don't think so?
Family history: Nope
HIV infection: Nope
Carcinoma in situ: I have not idea.
Cancer of the other testicle: Nope
Age: Ninety percent of testicular cancers occur between the ages of 20 and 54. But this cancer can affect males of any age, including infants and elderly men.
Race and ethnicity: The risk of testicular cancer among white men is about 5 times that of black men and more than 3 times that of Asian-American and American Indian men: I'm white
Body size: Some studies have found that the risk of testicular cancer is somewhat higher in tall men but other studies have not: I'm about average size.
Is this something that doctors can check for just by taking you blood, and touchin your nuts and making you cough. I'm wondering since I had a physical a about 12 days ago.

Being a woman, I obviously don't have the intimate knowledge of testicles that men do.............but you said you had a physical just 12 days ago! I would hope you spoke with your doctor about your concerns at that time. If he/she suspected cancer, they would have sent you to a urologist immediately. This is assuming the "lumps" were present at the time of the physical. If not, you should call your doctor and ask for a referral to the urologist.
It appears you have done some research on the subject, and while that is sometimes a good idea, more often than not, a little knowledge is a bad thing. It only goes to increase your anxiety.
I would make the appointment as soon as possible, and the only reason I could see you heading off to the ER is if you're urinating blood or can't urinate at all. Both of those would indicate a medical emergency. If neither of those is present, it's my opinion that you can wait a few more days to see a urologist.
Have you gone over to the Cancer Forum? I'm sure there are other men who have had the same issue. It might be worth the time to check it out.
Please let us know how you're doing, OK?
Peace

Then I suggest you see a *******urologist NOW rather than yell at us!
And even IF any of us WERE doctors, do you seriously think we'd diagnose you from cyber-space?

When we are searching around our bodies... sometimes when we are feeling places we usually dont explore too much, we seem to think something is wrong... b/c we feel a lump or a bump. When in fact, we could of always had a little lump there.

I had groin pain for about a week or two at one point.. and it freaked me out... I kept feeling around, and kept thinking I felt lumps... when in fact I beleive I was feeling little lymphnodes around there... the pain eventually left. The pain felt like I was getting kicked in the nads.. lol.

Asked my dad if he's ever had that feelign before and he said "yes". Made me feel better. And after that, I quit messing with em and it went away. And I started wearing some tighter boxers. =) Let the junk be a little more snug. lol.

I have reported dothackzero for his 2nd comment.  You don't deserve to be treated like that for trying to help someone; although by your response I can see you didn't need me to tell you that, lol!
