Do anxiety disorders lead to depressing, or is it the other way around?

First of all, I don't know if I am depressed or not, but I think that I could be. In my opinion, I have many of the well known symptoms of depression, lethargic, sleeping long nights, lack of interest in things I always liked, sex drive seems to be down, etc...  If I am depressed, I'm wondering if it could be due to the stress of dealing with anxiety attacks and all of the draining physical effects they've had on me, or was it likely first depression that has triggered my recent struggles with anxiety and panic attacks?

Which comes first? And can they each lead to one another? Can resolving one help clear up the other?

Anxiety and depression often go hand-in-hand and if I had to guess which comes first I would say anxiety.  But it really doesn't matter which came first, you need to get a diagnosis so you can start to feel better.  Living with anxiety can wear on us creating depression, so yes....helping one will help the other.  You need to speak with a psychiatrist so the two of you can determine the best course of treatment for you....therapy and/or medication.  Better days are ahead, you just need a little help which we all do at some point.  Sharing with us is a big step now seek a professional opinion so you can get the ball rolling towards feeling better.
