Hi,
I have been suffering for 3/4 months now. Started off tight chest, pains in left arm etc. Was at our busiest time of year. Eventually went to see my GP, blood pressure 180/103, sent me straight for an ECG, read normal. "dont worry, calm downn youre fine" i was told!
Went back after 2 weeks, still the same, then again, was given a 24hr ECG, again fine but showed my heart rate to be fast. Was put on LISINOPRIL 10mg, Checked bloods, full blood count, thyroid etc., all came back fine. Blood pressure now down to 149/85 but feel no better or even worse, tight chest , bit of nausea and lost some weight (due to worrying i guess). had a real panic attack palpitations etc, felt like i was running at 500mph, went back to gp. Put me on atenanol (25mg), if no better in 4-5 days double it. gave it 10 days, bit better but not right, so doubled up which really helped for a while but now feel like i might need to up the dose again! Just been for a week abroad for most of which i was fine, felt relaxed, great, 1st day back to work, back to normal. If nothing else it has proved to me that it is stress or anxiety related and not cancer or heart disease which has been going through my mind for the last few months. Good look anyone suffering from stress/anxiety.
Hi all,
I was just wondering if anybody took citalopram (Celexa)for their anxiety and what they thought about it. My doctor wrote me a script, but I'm kinda scared to take it because of all the side effects listed. Thanks for your time.
Thank you all for your comments, It does put my mind at ease knowing I'm not the only one going through this! I hate feeling this way. My doctor put me on lorazepam for a short period which worked very well. He had me try prozac and I couldn't handle that, he wrote me a script for citalopram (Celexa), I got it filled a couple of months ago but I am scared to try it after taking prozac. I wish he would just put me on lorazepam for good, but he said it was highly addictive and looses effetiveness after long term use. Anyway thanks for all your comments and god bless!
I have also felt the tingling sensation and the numbness in my face. If your doctor has done the necessary tests, I would suspect it is anxiety. Anxiety is a terrible feeling and a very difficult way to live. I know, I've been dealing with it for three long years. I've battled back from the awful feeling that I was going insane and that I could swallow my tongue or any number of other ridiculous things that aren't possible. Read The Feeling Good Handbook, by David Burns. Some of it seems hokey, but overall it showed me a lot of people share the same symptoms, as well as ways to overcome them. I know it's tough, but just know a lot of people feel the same way you do and there is help out there. Also, you may want to consider therapy.
Yes, that numbness that you feel can be associated with the anxiety. My mouth and hands can get that way. I have been through the whole MS thing too. I would say it is anxiety, but I always feel that you should go to the doctor if you haven't recently to discuss your symptoms...just to be sure! Best to you.
I have felt that way before. It sounds like anxiety. Actually your panic attacks sound pretty severe & happen quite often. Are you going through any changes in your life at the moment? What are you prescribed for this?
