Does anyone know if klonopin will treat anxiety along with depression

Hi, I have tried a few different meds lately, buspar, lorazapam, paxil, celexa, fluoxetine and they all seem to help only a little or not at all.
I was wondering if klonopin would help with the anxiety and take away the depression that seems to have been created because of it?
I am currently on lorazapam and fluoxetine and the more I take them the worse I feel.
Could I just switch to klonopin or would I have to wean off the others first. I have only been on the fluoxetine for a month at a low dose and the lorazapam off and on.

I stayed on just klonopin for years. It will help some people with depression but doesn't act on the same receptors as an ssri but it may be a good option in my opinion if you have anxiety and mild depression

Fluoxetine(prozac) you can usually come right off because of the long half life but you will probably experience some withdrawals after about 5 days once it is out of your system so a taper is not a bad idea unless you don't mind riding out the withdrawals but they shouldn't be near as bad as the other ssri's. Many people make a switch to prozac to come off another ssri because of it's long half-life.

Lorazepam is for occasional use only and would be a horrible option to stay on for everyday use and would only cause more problems with your anxiety. Klonopin  alone is a fine alternative and I did it for many years taking just .5 to 1mg per day split up throughout the day. I have more OCD so that's why I keep going back to anti-depressants but there was a time I was just on klonopin alone. It works great for social anxiety and in some cases depression. It's worth a shot. If it doesn't work then you can always get back on an anti-depressant but only you know your exact situation and can really decide what to do.

There is some mixed opinions on whether to stop lorazepam and go right to klonopin. You can take just a tad of lorazepam until the klonopin get's built up in your system which is usually 2 weeks but some can make the switch right away. If your only occasionaly taking it and not much I would say just start the klonopin and dump the lorazepam. As far as dumping cold turkey on the prozac that's really up to you. You can taper off slowly for the next few weeks to a month or just quit.
