Does it need time to kick in?

Does it need time to kick in?

I've been taking 50mg of zoloft for panic attacks for like 7 yrs or so, they havent been doing their job so i just upped them to 75mg about a week ago, i figure they will take time to kick in and take full effect, what do you guys think?

Yes, it would take time for the new dose to kick in and start working. If it does'nt start helping pretty soon it may be because the Zoloft has just stopped working for you altogether. This can happen with antidepressants. No need to worry because there are many more to choose from.
If you don't see a difference in a couple of weeks or you start having more anxiety see your Dr to talk about another med.
Hopefully the dose increase will help you. Try to hang in there and give it more time. Take care. Remar

Like remar said above.....some antidepressants stop being effective after time, which could be the case with the Zoloft.  To be fair, give the new dose at LEAST 4-6 weeks to see if you notice an improvement.  If not, then discuss your options with your doctor.  Just do not stop taking it abruptly.  You will need to taper off of it to minimize withdrawal type symptoms.

Lastly, hopefully your doctor was the one who increased the dose, because it goes without saying that we should NEVER change doses, etc, without first consulting with the prescribing physician.

Good luck...let us know how you're doing!

Yes the doc had told me over this past summer i could increase my dosage to 75mg. I was scared to take the half pill more because of side effects so i haven't done it until about a week ago. I've been having more panic attacks so i decided i have no other choice but to try. I hope this works,  1 week isn't long enough to say. Thank you for replying i am new to this site but i like it it really helps knowing there are other people out there w/ the same/similar problems. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for replying to my post, greatly appreciated. I hope the increased dosage works. I have been facing more things in my life that certainly  could be triggering these panic attacks. I've had them for i'd say since i was 16, but not all the time...just here and there. So it could be the meds not working or the new stress in my life or a little of both. Time will tell if the pills will work, if not yes i will go to the docs. Thank you so much for your help. you will be in my prayers.
