Drug interactions

I was taking bupropion for 1 1/2 years and have been off of it for at least a week probably close to 2 weeks. I saw a new doctor who prescribed nortriptyline. After reading the article on this site I was alarmed about the possibility of seizures. Was I off the bupropion long enough before starting the nortriptyline for it not to be a risk?

Did your doctor know that you had been on the other med? If not you need to make them aware of all recent medication changes etc. I know that there were a couple of my meds that I had to wait a month before starting another one. However I was young at the time and never asked why. I would see the doctor or call them and let them know.

I'm not aware that wellbutrin is a cause of seizures.  Usually that's anti-seizure meds, such as benzos.  Wellbutrin is a straight anti-depressant.  I'm no expert, but sometimes nortriptyline is used to help with withdrawal from anti-depressants, but wellbutrin isn't known for the really bad withdrawals.  Kind of hard to tell what you're going for here, but if you have an anxiety problem primarily, wellbutrin isn't usually the med for that, since it tends to be stimulating, but it must have worked for you to be on it for so long.  If you google these meds you can learn a lot.
