Ears ringing. Could it be the zoloft?

Ears ringing. Could it be the zoloft?

I have been taking zoloft 50mg in the mornings for over a month now.  I get a headache every night around 5pm and then I notice my ears ringing.

What is going on.  I didnt use to get the headaches or the ear ringing.

When I took Zoloft a few years ago I had a terrible time with it.  My shrink took me off it because the side effects were so bad.  Zoloft effects people different ways but for me I had the ear ringing, stomach problems, headaches and felt disconnected.  Can you ask your dr for something different?  I think Paxil, Prozac and Zoloft are all in the same "family" but your dr would know better.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have never heard of any antidepressant cause tinnuitus ( ear ringing) if your getting headaches too, and especially if the depression is new, I would highly recommend you see a neurologist for a emg, rule out anything physical,

When I tried Cymbalta for the first time recently, it caused ringing in my ears big time. I had to turn the TV on just to drown out the ringing.

So, yes, it could be the Zoloft.

I have horrible tinnitus from Effexor. As soon as I stop taking it, the buzzing goes away. but those horrible side effects come on full force (even just after 24 hours). It's a toss up and right now, I choose the ringing over the withdrawal symptoms. Either way, it's a horrible way to live.

I can work with the ringing. I cannot work with the withdrawal symptoms.

I also take .75 - 1mg of xanax every night before bed.  I have been taking that for about 4 months.  Could this be xanax withdrawal or something?

God...

I take Xanax too but have not had any side effects but that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't.

If the ringing in your ears, headache, etc. are relatively new I would tend to agree with Cherie762 and maybe get a referral to a neurologist just to rule out any other possibilities.

not understanding your statement you take xanax every night , and you want to know if symptoms could be xanax withdrawl (withdrawal) you dont mention stopping or tappering down on the xanax, in either case I first would recommend you not stop xanax with out drs advice on how to tapped down, its rare or sometimes dangerous to stop cold turkey, and I stand by advice to see a neurologist. could be that I am wrong but I firmly believe in ruling out the physical  before assuming the psychological.
