Exercise Intolerance

I have been in athletics all my life and in great shape. In previous anxiety episodes I could run or work out with no problem. Now I get sick when I do the least exercise. I just went for a 6 mile bike ride and an nauseated and shaking apart.

Anyone else who used to be able to exercise.

I would have to agree.  I also believe that exercise is a great way to help with anxiety, but if you are having a panic attack or anxious during exercise, it can definitley affect your performance.  Does this happen every time you exercise now, or just a few times?  Sometimes, we just may have an off day due to a number of factors.  Also, for me, when I went through this, I took off from exercising for an extended period of time and tried to get back into it like I had never stopped, which of course is not advised because my body was not at the condition required for that level of activity...keep us posted!

I use to work out to releave anxiety but recently, I have found it difficult to do so. I have this highten awareness (derealization) while running. I don't think it is the exercise itself I just think it is the state of anxiety that I am in.

This maybe your problem too. Exercise is supposed to be great for anxiety and depression but I think when you are in the midst of an episode, it might make you feel a little worse.

Keep exercising. Over the long run it is great for you.
