First ER visit for Anxiety, dizzyness & vomiting

I have been dealing with all day anxiety for almost three month now. I am on xanax and citalopram (which I just started) and therapy (which I just started). Three days ago I started feeling worse, medically. I wake up early each morning in a panic with some lose bowel issues and dry heaves or vomiting. The last three days it has been worse!! Yesterday was awful and I was so dizzy, especially during the vomiting. I will feel like I am going to pass out. The ER treated me for dehydration, gave me an EKG and ran some test. All normal, of course. I thought they would be, but the nurse line at my docs said to go to the ER in case it is a bad reaction to the meds.
I just don't know what to do. I want to sleep through the night. I want my heart to slow down. I want to stop vomiting. I want to stop running to the bathroom. I want to not be dizzy.
Any ideas or similar stories?

She took me off the citalopram and changed me to the paxil generic. She also wants me to take clonazepam at bed to try and help me sleep. I took thepaxil last night and .25 clonazepam. I woke up slightly less paniced, but still couldn't sleep. She also ordered blood work, which I got this morning. I am a little nauseous and threw up.

Please let us know what your NP says. Did you take a Xanax when you got up?

My regular doc did suggest taking over the counter antacids, but I have not yet. I have taken tums at times. I am seeing the nurse practicianer (SP?) today for a med check. They told me not to take the citalopram last night and see how it goes. I work with the worst panic attack this morning. I am feeling a little lost and hopeless as to what to do now.

Just wondering if you have been taking prescription antacids along with the citalopram. Health Canada has put out an advisory warning that antacids should not be taken with them, as this CAN cause the citalopram to "double up" in your system...causing all sorts of grief. The antacids "won't let" the other medications leave your system the way they are supposed to.

Not sure if you have, but thought I would throw that in there because it is very over-looked.

when I started taking 100mg of Zoloft from 50mg for yrs,I have mild diareah.(sp?) I felt like I could vomit too,but never did.Plus my appetite was almost nothing.I ate maybe a sandwich and a yogurt all day.But I drank lots of water. It all went away after awhile. I would talk to your doctor about your side effects. Good luck!

Yup, just got out of the bathroom. I am taking something for the nausea but it didn't seem to help today. I am hoping maybe it will kick in soon.

You could very well be having side effects from the meds. This is very common in the beginning. Yours are pretty severe though, if that's what going on, side effects. You might want to talk to your Dr about trying you on something else. What dose are you on? Some Drs will start you on a small dose and work up to a higher one while others will start you on a high dose. We're all so different and react to the same meds differently.  If this keeps up for another couple of days call your Dr and ask to be taken off this med and tried on something else. You can't keep vomiting and getting dehydrated.
