Fluoxetine Sweating Side Effects

Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising. My old doctor told me Fluoxetine has very few reported side effects, and now that I'm in college and that previous doctor retired I'm unable to contact a professional about my questions.
Any advice? Thanks!

Increased sweating is a common side effect of Prozac (Fluoxetine is the generic for Prozac so it is the exact same thing).  For most patients the sweating settles down after a month or two after start of therapy...but not for all. Some patients that struggle with the sweating issue with take their Prozac at bedtime to try to minimize this side effect, but even that doesn't always work.  Keep in mind that there are other anti-anxiety/depression choices out there if you are willing to try. Some other choices which typically have less sweating: Zoloft (sertraline),, Celexa (Citalopram), and Lexapro (Escitalopram). Stay away from Paxil (Paroxetine) as that treatment has as much or more sweating than Prozac.

Hope this helps...

Hi
Iv been on many different antidepressants and I'm currently on paroxetine and I'm the same - I sweat in day at night esp when exercising or even walking fast. It's annoying but iv been told there's nothing you can do - you can either try a different drug, deal with it or stop (if this side effect is more a bother than your reason for taking it). I feel your frustration. I live this every day too and it's horrible :(
