You said the side effects of FLUOXETINE are nasty and how long do these side effects last?  If i take the this meds for 4 weeks and stop completely, will the symptoms come back up again as soon as i stop taking it?? If not, how long will it take for anxiety symptoms to show back up again???
Thanks for sharing your experiences on this.

My friend took CBT along with Paxil and it worked wonders for her but, you have to be ready to work hard and change your present way of thinking.  It took her a short time (a few months) as she wanted to "face her fears" so that she could be a "good" mother to her two children.  Her motivation was really strong.

Yes, i have considered alternative therapy. Infact i previously posted a question regarding CBT and asked anyone if they have had any success because  i was informed that meds do not cure the problem, have you had any CBT?

Be very careful with fluoxetine.  The sideeffects are nasty - anxiety, agitation, confusion.  I felt very strange on this medication.  The next one I was on was an antipsychotic because the med through me into such disarray.  Be very careful - you do not want to go through what I went through. Have you considered alternative therapy?

I am currently taking Fluxotine by choice.  My concern was weight gain, Prozac and Welbutrin were my 2 choices my doctor gave me.  As the Prozac (at the time) was available generic I took that.  Fluxotine is approved to treat depression, OCD, and anxiety disorder.  During the first 2-3 weeks the side effects were extremely difficult.  They did in fact increase my anxiety, jitteryness and tremoring.  After getting it into my system those side effects started to go away to the point where I was able to go off of it after a year.  I have been off for 4 months and am going back on because I am obsessing about my heart palpitations and need to have some help.  I am currently 2 weeks into my restart and am experiencing insomnia and increase anxiety again.  However, I know it is a side effect of the Prozac.  Hopefully it will get into my system soon.......
Hope this helped.

I am suprised he would give you Fluxotine. That is a generic version of Prozac and is mainly used for depression. I have tried just about every drug there is to treat my anxiety and depression and fluxotine was one of my least favorite. It made me feel very disoriented and exaggerated my anxiety. I only took it for 3 days before I gave it up. If you attacks are not constant, and you are comfortable some of the time, I would discuss a benzodiazepam with your doc. That would be valium, klonopin, xanax, or ativan. You could use it on an as needed basis for when panic comes on. I dont like the idea of have a regimine of pills, so I like benzos because they can be used on an as needed basis. Plus I just have had no luck with any antidepressants or ssris
