"In your case, the feeling you experienced when you did a drug triggered anxiety, and you ended up stuck in the anxiety cycle, which, btw...is pretty common. "

This was from my post above.  I read your prior posts and knew that you were speaking of illicit drugs, not Rx.  In the long run, the trigger really becomes secondary.  After the drug's effects are gone and you're left with anxiety, you have to addresss it...just like the person who is anxious because of trauma, or somone who inherited anxiety and has had it all their lives.  The only difference would be that some people need to explore harder the deeper rooted issues.  Not everyone has deep rooted issues that cause anxiety.

You really have to try to stop focusing so much on what brought you here and focus instead on where you're going.  You'll get there, with a few bumps in the road, sure...but with time, it will get better!

Sorry guys I should have made my self more clear when i said drugs I actually meant street drugs, in my case a synthetic cannabis known as spice. I never had any previous problems of anxiety before I took it. Does this change anything?

I would caution everyone to be very careful when looking into the JNK gene information.  For starters, this is very new information and while there have been some studies done, very few are controlled, scientific studies.  Also, there is a HUGE proponent of this that is related to direct marketing for the JNK diet and other JNK related weight loss plans.

I'm all for people trying new things and such, but always tread carefully, especially when there seems to be a proft based intention.

There HAVE been some scientific studies that have led to a theory that the medical professions have started isolating genes that may be responsible for the familial traits of anxiety disorders, but that is still a work in progress, and is not related in any way to the JNK gene theories.

Hey greenpc.

  Something worth looking into.

Both types of anxiety will activate the JNK gene.
1. Meds for anxiety and other conditions are JNK gene activators.
2. Anxiety by itself is a JNK activator. (there are many other activators)

Prolonged JNK gene activation WILL (it is definite) cause serious chronic disease
(Alzheimer's, Anxiety, BiPolar, Cancer, Diabetes, Parkinson's etc)

Please look into it. There are 14000 studies on the JNK gene and yet most Doctors are not up with this research!  Hmm, I wonder why not?

There are natural ways to remedy this. Should you need more info, please post again.
Blessings to all

The cause becomes less important than the treatment in the long run.  Some people are genetically predisposed to anxiety and suffer for most of their lives, sometimes a traumatic experience can cause anxiety, sometimes life stresses become overwhelming and an anxiety disorder results.  In your case, the feeling you experienced when you did a drug triggered anxiety, and you ended up stuck in the anxiety cycle, which, btw...is pretty common.

What is important is that you have recognized that your anxiety was becoming a problem and you have taken steps to address it.  Now, it just takes some time, patience and some work on your part to be able to overcome it.  The less you worry about the "whys" and the less you dwell on the initial presentation of the anxiety, the better.  Easier said than done, but you can work on it.  Distractions are super helpful in overcoming anxiety and taking the power away from the anxious cycle of thinking.

Anxiety caused by medication is temporary and will go away once you stop the medication.  There are several things that cause us anxiety, not medicine related.  Sometimes it can be an event that has scared us to a point of worrying and/or obcessing about it happening to us.  One example of this is "health anxiety" where we worry that something serious is wrong with us even after all tests confirm we are fine.  Anxiety can be caused a past traumatic event which we never truly dealt with.  When we do this, it catches up with us in the form of anxiety and/or depression.  Often we never know where our anxiety comes from and just have to accept that we have it and do all we can to ease the symptoms.  Therapy can help us discover if we have a root cause...what it is...and deal with it, easing our anxiety.  It also helps in teaching us how to relax, and think more positively.  Often medication is needed, as anxiety is often like any other medical condition requiring daily medication(s) to control the symtpoms.  I hope this helps and take care.

I have found that anxiety cause by medecine ususally resolves itself soon after I get off of the medecine.  Anxiety that is not caused by meds tends to reoccur and often needs medecine to improve. I have had both and one went away soon after stopping my medecine (within a week) and my "regular" anxiety continues...lol.
