Getting Off Soma

I have a son-in-law that is hooked on soma but trying to get off.  He has gone to the doctor and has been
prescribed xanex.

Is this a dangerous combination?

I see him taking large amounts of soma...(6-8 tablets).  Can he just quit by himself or does he need
outside help?

"Prepare for the withdrawal symptoms of discontinued Soma use. Acute symptoms, which generally abate within a few days of onset, include seizure, severe headache, nausea, sleeplessness and stomach pain. Because of the severity of these symptoms, many Soma addicts relapse before a post-acute treatment regimen can begin. This makes for all the more reason why Soma addicts need to seek treatment in a specialized detoxification facility."

You tell me....

There's also an Addiction forum here with a few members who have been or are addicted to Soma.  They may have better experience/answers for you.  Have you posted over there yet?
