Has anyone switched from ativan to xanax

Please im in a fright.Thursday i was switched from ativan to xanax i have felt bad every since,Im sweating bad a t night my chest burns i feel nasuted,week legs,,,they said i shouldnt have withdrawals but i wonder,I was on 2 1/2 mg of ativan,,switcedh me to 1 mg xanax 3 times a day but that is too strong for me so im doing 1/2 mg 3 times a day,,any thoughts

when i tryed xanax it seemed to make my anxiety worse. thats just my personal experience.   good luck

Did your doctor taper you off of ativan?  How long were you on it?  Ativan and Xanax are both fairly short acting benzos and act in much the same way.  As long as you are following your doctor's orders, I believe you are doing the right thing as you are switching.  Withdrawal symptoms get MUCH better with time.  Also, remember, that you are in a heightened state of anxiety right now which is also a major factor in how you feel right now...keep us posted?
