Having problems again

by alh17, Feb 08, 2007 12:00AM
I had asked a couple weeks ago about symptoms and if it could be anxiety. I went to the doctor and she prescribed Paxil. It seemed to be helping a lot with depression/anxiety symptoms. Then over the past weekend I had a rash breakout on my face. I talked with my doctor and she suggested to go off the Paxil and see if the rash goes away. It seems to be clearing up. I also made an appointment for Friday to discuss a new method of treatment. Has anyone had a problem with Paxil causing a rash?
I really am not a big fan of being on medicine but it seemed to help me a lot.Since I have been off it, I have started to feel sad a lot again and have cried a couple times in the last couple days over nothing. Today I feel like I am going to jump out of my own skin. Has anyone ever had that feeling? It is hard to explain but it feels like my whole body is tired and I haven't done much. I also feel sick to my stomach. I just feel like something is wrong. I cannot wait till tommorrow. I am just really upset right now.

Not only is your depression back, but it also sounds like withdrawal symptoms...how many mgs were you taking?  Did your doc stop you cold turkey or slowly?  That is important with medication.

He will probably start you on a new med.  There are so many out there.  There is Lexapro, wellbutrin, zoloft, prozac, celexa..etc.

I am on meds too.....I also don't love the idea, but I am able to function on them.  I feel if it works, they you do it.

Best to you!

I personally did not like Paxil because of sexual side effects.  I never developed a rash on it though.  I know I have had luck w/ Lexapro, no side effects.  You may just try a new med..  I know the idea of being on medication is sometimes hard to swallow and I have tried many times to just get a grip on my anxiety on my own w/o the use of med., but that never works for me.  Some people just need to have it and I have realized that I am not going to feel bad about that.  Also, I agree that you need to be weined off of those medications, not stop cold turkey.

Best of luck to you tomorrow.  I still think the doctor should have weened you off the med.  10 every other day, etc....however, I guess the rash takes precidence! Let us know how everything is working out.

I stopped cold turkey but like I said I just started the medication and it was only 10 mg. I don't know if I could still be having withdrawel symptoms or my old symptoms are back. I was suprised by how much better I felt after only being on the medication for 1 week. I was seeing hope instead of obstacles.
