Headaches With Effexor XR

Hello, I hope you can help me. I started taking Effexor XR last month. Recently, I've been experiencing really horrible migraines. They strart in the morning, and last all day, and nothing relives them. I saw my therapist on Friday and she wanted to to start weeing me off by taking 1 as apposed to 2 per day, and starting be on a combination of prozac and "something else". I'm wondering if maybe Effexor XR is too strong for me and maybe just the regular Effexor would be more suitable? I like the fact that I'm wired and on task all day, but the headaches aren't fun. My therapist says that if cutting my dose down on the Effexor XR resolves the headaches then she has to take me off of it altogether. Do you have any insight on this med, or perhaps suggest something else. I am afraid of staring a med that makes me feel lethargic, I have to be on task.

Hi.  Headaches are a side effect of both the Effexor XR and regular Effexor.  Your doctor knows what she is doing as this is obviously not the right medication for you.  It is often trial and error as to what medication will work best for us, and this is the frustrating part.  There are many other excellent choices for you that won't make you lethargic.  I wish you all the best and take care.
