Health Anxiety

Today I took a HIV test n I'm petrified of the results. I've been crying all morning. Bec of my health anxiety I'm convinced that I have a rare condition that can't be cured not to mention HIV. I've prayed about n still don't know what to do. I need help before I lose my mind. Is anyone else going thru this? Is this common with anxiety? Bec of my anxiety never in a million would I have ever taken a HIV test, but i got so tired if living in fear n wanted to get it over with. Now I am having panic attacks non stop. I'm so afraid n it's driving me nuts!

Back the bus up, please. What exposure did you have to HIV? Who assessed your risk and advised you to test? If you've been crying because you fear not only the results of your HIV test, but some unknown, rare, and incurable condition........you do, in my humble and non-medical opinion, have health anxiety.
Please see your doctor for a thorough medical work-up as any organic problem needs to be ruled out before a diagnosis of anxiety can be ruled in. If you are cleared physically, which includes the HIV test, then it's time to look into therapy for your anxiety.
I know you're scared, but it's part of life to deal with our fears, to do whatever we must to face them down.
You've taken a courageous first step in getting tested for HIV. Just keep moving forward until you get your life back.
