Health anxiety

For 2 weeks I've been having intermittent/at times persistent chest, shoulder, arm, jaw pain. Went to the doctor and had an EKG and a chest x-ray both of which were normal. Some of these areas hurt worse when pressed on (especially jaw) Any thoughts? Should these tests put my mind at ease about heart attacks? I would appreciate any help/advice!

It is common for anxiety sufferers to over-analyze their bodies. Likely these pains existed before but you ignored them so if you can do that now, your anxiety level will drop.

If those 'symptoms" were heart related, you would be dead by now, btw, so that is further proof you are not dying. That is what they told me in ER when I panicked after weeks of what you describe.

You had all of these symptoms? It keeps coming and going along with my heart racing.
It comes and goes because it is your fear that makes you tense up and sweat. Your heart wouldn't be repairing itself then falling back  into decay all day long.

Many people on this forum had them too but it was all in our heads unless if course a doctor diagnosed them with a heart problem, which didn't happen in your case .
You might want to read some other threads and check out the advice because no one wrote back later saying they got a heart attack (unless they were mis-diagnosed and I doubt that happens often or that would show up here too.

It might not be easy for you to accept the doctor's diagnosis, but if you do the "symptoms" which are really fear driven making you sweat, tense up etc. will disappear. Then the vicious cycle of over-analyzing your body looking for signs that you might die will end so you will stop tensing up.
