Heart Pounds All Day

by vaiisking, Mar 28, 2007 12:00AM
Hello.
My heart beats normally...well actually a little harder than normal all day and within 2-3 minutes, it starts beating hard as if I had been scared or something, except I'm not scared mentally but only physically. It happens all day long and even at night, so I can't sleep. I have to take AmbienCR or I can't sleep at all. My wife was listening to my chest and I told her I would tap her shoulder when she should hear it and she jumped up and said, "Oh my God. Your heart skips a beat!" I don't really feel anything, but am beginning to get slightly worried now. It has been doing this for the past 2 years. I've just learned to live with it.

God Bless,
Chris

I have had this for years where it just feels like it pauses for a second then you get a hard beat. Its always best to get this checked by your doctor but in normal healthy hearts these beats are usually benign and anxiety can make you feel them more. So if you are thinking about them chances are you will get more.

I had the same thing... i didnt realize it.. but.. i was making it happen.. you dont realize you are.. but.. wow.. worry plays some cruel tricks on you .. justwhen you think that you are great.. something else starts going nuts.

you have to just ignore it...lol.... thats w hat I did.... it did take some time .. but.. eventually.. things got better.. i used to check my heart rate like every 30 seconds.. i used to think it was pounding out of my chest all the time.. i could feel skipped beats... and then whoa.. here i go freaking out..

i had a bunch of tests.... everything is normal... the skipped beats simply happen.   most people do not notice them.. some.. do... you are just more sensitive..

maybe for your own sanity.. you should see a doc...its different when it comes from a doc.. its very hard for others to understand ... especially when those others have no idea the terror.. the fear.. the frustration that you feel.. i hope and pray that you do find some peace...

Same here.  2 Echocardiograms and 2 stress tests later, I've had it for 17 years now and it hasn't killed me yet!  I take Toprol 50mg when it bothers me bad - it helps to slow down the preventricular contractions (PVCs)  that I have and makes it less annoying.  Some docs don't like to prescribe it because I'm only 31 and no heart probs, but I've been on it from a cardiologist for about 12 years now.  Ask about it:)
