Help! Im Freaking Out To Early :(

Alrighty so last time on my posts i talked about how i will be getting on a plane alone for christmas to fly to michigan and im 16, as the days draw closer i find myself getting ready to not go...coming up wih excuses,"sicknesses","fear" my normal rutean when im scared but its REALLY started to freak me out, the anxiety about getting sick and having panic attacks alone on a plane...ahhhhh, but i still dont want to back down i have to get through this...does anyone have any suggestions on ways to calm the freak down, im leaving in about 3 1/2 weeks this is wayyyyy to early to start freaking out,

Tell your doctor that you will be doing that and maybe he can give you some onetime backup medicine like Xanax.  A lot of people that don't usually have anxiety use that on planes as a one time deal.  I personally don't like drugs and am not using any.  Another thing you can do is have your iPod with your favorite calming music and close your eyes when your on the plane while listening to it.  You can even do this now to help you go to sleep, it helps me.  And also learn breathing exercises so that you won't hyperventilate on the plane or anywhere.  Also visualize yourself going on the plane in detail and doing great everyday, this will help your brain know that there is nothing scary about what you are going to do.  You can use this for anything scary.  Our brains will follow what we repeat to it. You can do anything you set your mind to do.  I will be praying for you, have faith!  I also pray and repeat bible verses and that really calms me down and gives me peace, knowing that God is with me everywhere I go.  Have a great trip!!!!

Actually, I just noticed your age.... You are too young for xanax even if it is a one time deal.. Try reading on the plane or listening to music like I said that should help alot and doing breathing exercises.  You will get over this, just be patient. God bless you!  Get outdoors and get some exercise and fresh air this always helps me!

You've already been given many ideas of ways to help you get through this flight. Asking your doctor for a mild sedative, bringing lots of things with you to distract you, letting the flight attendants know of your fear, accepting that you simply have to believe that nothing is going to happen. Trust in yourself to be strong. Trust in the pilots. Trust in a higher power...................
We understand your fear and we think it's wonderful and courageous that you are going to do this no matter what, but we have no magic answer for you.
You know what your choices are and apparently they are entirely up to you. You are not being "forced" to go on this trip.
Is it too late to take a bus or train to your destination?
The very worst that can happen is that you will throw up, have an anxiety attack and be  embarrassed. Nobody has EVER died of any of these.........

Go on-line and find a chat group of people with a fear of flying. You'll get many good coping ideas.
Or, as I said before, you can choose to stay home and all this angst will go away.
Have a grand holiday no matter what you decide.
