I have a 52 yr. old female friend. We split up 3 years ago. Ever since she has been having some concerning issues. This started when she found out that I had a Facebook account (which I had for several years prior, with very limited activity). She spent weeks for hours going through the computer searching for anything else that I was hiding from her. She was opening up files that are in code and finding tidbits of english. She was so sure that something was there. She finally ruined the computer. Next, she was saying that people were getting into her house while she was not home and changing things. She was noticing holes in the walls that she had never seen before and thinking that someone was doing something in her house. She was saying that they were taking her windows out, taking walls down and many strange things. I was accused of many of these things at first. It wasn't until I was out of state for a couple of weeks that she realized that it wasn't me. Then she was going on about how people were doing things in her barn, digging holes, replacing cement, and hooking up into her plumbing to steal her water. She was convinced that people were at her house. I advised her to get a security system, she did, and then a pistol. At one point because she thought that people were doing things in her garage she had the interior completely removed and had some other issues repaired. Then she decided to have her siding replaced, well her contractor had listened to her concerns and offered to put cameras up on the property. Yes, there were people there at strange times, all could be accounted for. Interestingly she focused on the pictures where you could not see anyone. She was convinced that there were people in the photo's. What she was doing was zooming in on the photo and pixelating the view. This is where she thought that she was seeing people. So, I had her over and took the 2 identical photos (one day time, and one at night) and layered them and showed her that what she was seeing was light and reflections. I had lunch with her today, she asked me about a shower curtain that I had left there. She was nearly in tears, she said that she could see pictures in the fish pattern on the shower curtain. The same ones that she could see in the wood. She showed me about 30 pictures, including doors and tables around her house that she could see things in, and that it was always the same image. I told her that maybe it was an issue with her camera. Problem is while sitting there at lunch and she could see these things in the walls and wallpaper at the cafe we were at. She is very scared and needs help. She was seeing a counselor. I think that she needs to see a specialist but I don't know what type of disorder this may be and want to get her going in the right direction. Thanks for your assistance and input.
