How can I overcome the fear of flying?

Everytime I am on an airplane, I feel like I am dealing with a life-and-death situation. I'd recall the sins that I've committed recently and become more afraid imagining that God is going to punish me. I can never sleep in a flight. I just don't want to die now, but when I am flying, I know that the danger is very real, not just in my head. I have a flight next friday and I've been worrying about it.

I was thinking the same thing as above poster -- ask your doctor and maybe take a mild med before takeoff.  But not something to put you "out".

Have you asked a doctor for any meds?  Ativan has worked well for me in the past when flying.  The thought of flying makes me panic but if I take .5 mg of Ativan about an hour before the flight I am okay.  Good luck next Friday.
