How does a anxious person react to pains ???

by dizzy68, Jun 10, 2008 07:06AM
Just wanted to let people know that you will get over this anxiety i know it doesnt feel like it now, but you will ! I thought i couldnt breath for two months i saw about six/ seven different docters had numerous A and E visits, and yes it sounds mad but at the time i was so convined i was dying that it just felt like it was a matter of life and death. I used to think about my breathing all day everyday and i was sooo SCARED. I still get it sometimes but now i say it is anxiety it will pass and it does. I still have the battle in my mind going on between the anxiety and the i am dying thought, the only difference is now the THIS IS ANXIETY thought wins. Despite doing alot better then i was i have been having leg pains for about six weeks and i am trying to keep saying it is nothing serious as told by my GP BUT I AM GETTING TO THE STAGE WHERE I CANT. And as i am an anxiety sufferer i really want to stop these thoughts from severly progressing. Just some advice? I am starting to be worried due to anxiety problems in the past that i may be being dismissed but i am so tired of going to docs ect

I know with my Anxiety, my body is extremely sensitive to any new sensation, you are much more aware of any new feeling or pain. My advice to you is that, nobody knows your body better than you do, and if you have been having this persistant leg pain, than you need to talk with your doctor and insist on some tests. Just because you have suffered from anxiety, does not mean that EVERYTHING you have gooign forward is a reflection of that. What other symptoms do you have? Is your leg swollen or discolored? Is the pain a constant pain or just sparatic pain? Is it achy or sharp?

As I said, we know our bodies better than anyone else. If you feel that this pain is something that you need to take care of, don't allow your doctor to dismiss anything with you, they are there for a reason.

Take Care,
Kristine
