Hi all,
I have been on zoloft for around 8 months now, and I am thinking about finally coming off of it. I suffered from anxiety and depression, which was the reason I started taking it, and it really did help me. While it helped me get rid of the depression quickly, I still had some anxiety issues (mostly in social situations). Recently, I've started using anti-anxiety hypnosis, and it really works better than anything else I've ever tried and I feel so much less anxious now, it's incredible. I just have a self-hypnosis CD that I listen to every day. So basically, I've pretty much decided to come off of zoloft because although it has helped, I feel like it has kind of caused a "mentalMental retardation Mental status tests fog" of sorts, if that makes any sense. So my question is...what is the best way to come off of zoloft and how quickly should I go about doing it? I was planning on going from 100 mg to 50 mg for two weeks, then to 25, then to 12.5, etc. I would ask my doctor about it but I'm now off at college far away from my house and I'm not going to get a chance to go back anytime soon. I've been on 50 mg for three days, and so far, everything is fine...no anxiety and I almost feel more alert, awake, and able to accomplish things. Is this an ok idea?
Why not give your doctor a call? Don't do this on your own. While I have been on Zoloft and can probably give you good advice, none of us are MDs here. Tapering off of it slowly will minimize the side effects. I am glad you are feeling much better! Keep us posted!
