I Have Forgotten to Smile ..

My story begins when i was a young boy, people used to make fun of me as "fatty" i used to
take this seriously and become some what introvert .. but i was fine in my behavior till my
teens , i was social and didnt have any problems till around 15 years .

after i joined college ,my world changed  i dont know exactly what happened , but i started having anxiety attacks
my lips started to shiver when i talk to  people  , especially to ladies or families or  a group of people etc ,
(if i meet some one after a long time , i couldn't face them , but after 2 - 3 meeting im some what ok)

My lips Shiver  when i smile , and i can never smile freely , now i have started to dobt  whether this is mental problem or
some physical problem with my lips

But im perfectly ok when im drunk .. intact  i drink only to be nice and normal to people
people who talks to me when drunk thinks im nice and social and when they meet me while sober gets  dissapointed

im 30 years old now .. i avoid meeting people ,

in my small circle of friends im perfectly ok
and i must say they may not even know i have this kind of problems ..

i have forgotten to smile to strangers now , i try to avoid all social situations

my family has been forcing me to marry .they thinks im perfectly ok . i don't know what to do,

i once went to a doctor and he gave me xenax, but it didn't help me much ..

i have forgotten to smile and live freely , wish i was born again

Thanks!

Drink and one visit to a doctor will get you nowhere at all. You have to make a committment to yourself, if anybody, that you want to really get better and will do whatever it takes. That may mean going back to the doctor. Medication is hit and miss with anxiety. It may take a few goes before the right sort is found. The sort for you. I see theraphy mentioned by other posters. That is the obvious next step. But it is all something you have to want to do. Because it does take a lot of effort and some people give up on it too easily. There is a life out there waiting for you. You just have to work on getting it back.

You're doing the right thing by seeking advice and help but doing the wrong thing by using alcohol to relieve the anxiety.    I am not the best looking guy around and that caused me some similar issues when I was your age.     But you can turn your life around with the proper therapy and counseling.    Best wishes your way.

This is your anxiety and I've seen the quivering lips often in people during public speaking. Anxiety has a way of creeping up on us after the fact, and is a result of something that traumatized us when younger. This may the the after effect of your childhood and being made fun of.  You need to speak with a therapist to learn how to cope with this which will also ease your anxiety.  There are many medications that will help you with this if needed.  The acohol makes you "not care" and this is why you don't have the problem when drinking, but this can be a slippery slope.  You need to re-train yourself to not care when speaking with people.  With help you can smile again and live freely.  Decide that you will no longer be a victim of those kids and their cruelty, who I'm sure grew up to be bullies and to make others feel bad so that they feel like a big person.  They have some serious issues!!!  Please seek help with this and get your life back.  Take care.
