I just woke up with pains.

I just woke up with pains.

Hello I know its late, but I just woke up from a restless sleep! I've been tossing and turning almost all night. Now I have s sharp dull pain in the left shoulder/chest area, and the pain shoots Dow my arm, and also I have a small tightness in center chest with my neck is twitching. I feel as if i am going to stop breathing, I also had strong sharp pains in my lower stomach are also! I'm freaking out at this point, I even went to wake up my brother, but stood up for a second and went back to sleep. I hate this with a passion, I don't know what it can be. I checked out my bpm and it would go up and down in the 70s. Please help me out with some insight. Thank you and god bless

Anxiety can cause all of the symptoms you mentioned.  It could be a panic attack but the pains down the arm are something you should get checked out.  You want to rule out anything physically wrong before jumping on the anxiety train.

And you won't stop breathing from anxiety because breathing is not something under your control, it is an involuntary reflex.  That is why we continue to breathe when we are sleeping.  So try to put that one out of your mind.

If the chest pain continues with the radiating arm pain, then definitely see your doctor pronto to rule out the physical.

Take care.

Well I've been to the ER a couple of times in the past 2 months. They did an ekg, blood test, and x ray. Both occasions they told me I was healthy. But i still seem to worry, even with the ER trips!

If they have ruled out anything physical, then you should think about seeking the help of a psychologist to learn to manage your anxiety.

Here is a breathing technique that you can use when you are in the middle of a panic attack or really just anxiety in general.

Take a deep breath in through your nose, hold it for 5 seconds and count this out in your head, then let it all out through your mouth.  I also like to put my hands on my stomach so I can feel it rise and fall with each breath.  Do this until you feel the anxiety subsiding.

It is also good just to keep your mind occupied so reading is good, exercise, etc.

Take care.
