I need help

I am a 39 year old woman who has been told since childhood that I was High Strung or Wound Up,...
I struggle with memory and concentration, I am very nervous and always worrying... I have also been on anti-depressents since my early 20's.  The memory and concentration issue is really causing me problem especially in my career.
My boss actually used the term "sedative" to me today...
I don't know what is wrong
Can anyone help me???

Hi Aimee,

When was the last time you had your meds evaluated/changed. What are you taking and now long have you been taking it? Are you seeing a therapist along with taking the meds? Oftentimes the memory and concentration issue can be a side effect of the meds but they can also be from stress and anxiety. Most of us with anxiety have noticed the inability to focus at times.

Please tell us a bit more  there is plenty of help in this forum

I agree with Jerz; ensure you talk to your doctor at regular intervals about medications.  I am back on meds and sometimes I feel like they inhibit my ability to concentrate although this can be a double edged sword.  When I first went on Zoloft 3 years ago, I thought that it was doing more harm, than good, but after awhile people around me noticed a difference.  I was actually more focused on tasks while I was on it for about a year.

I am now back on it, but as Jerz said, anxiety can take your mind off of things and affect one's ability to concentrate.

I can totally relate.  I can't seem to concentrate on anything.
