I was taken off clonazapam and now I have to try buspar due to addiction reasons. I am wondering  how long it takes to get into your system and begin to work effectively ?Also how long till I can get rid of "icky" side effects? Someone please help me cuz I really need help with my anxiety and need some supportive, knowledgeable answers or advice. Thank you so much! Sincerely:

Hi,
I have been on clonazapam for over nine years now and it saved my life. I also have addiction issues going on now but I know that without the clonazapam I would be so much worse. Speaking for myself, I belive my addiction problems comes from my anxity and not know how to cope with situations. How long were you on clonazapam? I weaned from 3mg a day down to 1. It took a while and I felt realy icky while I weaned down. It all depends on how long you were on it. Buspar is an antidepressent that can help with anxiety. The icky feeling is realy w/d from the drug. Hang in there because it will pass.

Thank~you so much for your words of support. I also think the 3mg I was on a day also kept my addiction at bay. I wish they would consider just 1 mg a day. It helps more then "they" will ever know. Maybe I will share in part what you said in an effort to not go back to my addiction and tendency over the years to self-medicate. Of course they don't need to know all of this, but perhaps some. Again, thanks for your (much needed) support.

To: Klonopin Taper
Last med now to detox from is Klonopin, been taking it as prescribed since 1994 so this is going to be a tough one indeed. Pain meds was detoxed from 2 months ago.

Today marks another milestone as I've tapered down again, this time to .375 mg of Klonopin from .5 mg.

Just eight weeks ago I was @ 1.75 mg's/day so I'm feeling pretty good about my progress, how-ever I am concerned if I can actually pull-off a full detox from that drug. Been on it soo long that I know that the final CT from it won't be easy and I have no idea what to expect or if I even will want to stay clean from it. Sure would be a lot of work/hassle to finally decide to stay on it after this taper...but I'm going to give it a try.

Anyone out there with any detox experience from Klonopin? I've been tapering from all meds since "07" and seems like discomfort/anxiety/pain has been the norm, but so far so good and well worth it!

Any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA!
